              Insect
populations. including butterflies in certain parts of the globe
                are plummeting. A number
of factors are impacting them - from pesticide contamination,
                pollutants, loss of plants species
they are dependent upon, and other issues that are not yet fully
                understood. Many of the insect
species affected are pollinators. Continued losses paint a dire
                picture for agriculture, bird
populations, and numerous other unpredictable and interconnected
effects upon the web of life.
