My Brother in Fallujah  |  mixed media fabric sculpture  |   19" x 19" x 80"   |   Daniel Wend

This sculpture is a statement about the atrocity of war, in this case, the war in Iraq - a war started on a lie.
The continuing disasterous conflict has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths, countless injuries, severe mental
disorders, and fractured families fleeing their homes in desperation. The ruinous battle the US military conducted
to clear enemies from the city of Fallujah was prompted by the deaths of American military contractors whose
tortured and burned bodies were strung up along a city bridge. They were almost unrecognizable, looking like
blackened stick figures dangling in the hot desert wind.
